“Success is never final and failure is never fatal”. Anonymous
Many people become overwhelmed at just the thought of failing. They fear failing in business, so they never try; they fear having a marriage end in divorce, so they choose to stay single or just live together. The fear of failure is very real and, unless it is overcome, can limit what you accomplish in life.
Success is often birthed out of what is perceived as failure; therefore, getting things in the right perspectiv…

“The man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it.” Bessie Stanley
A friend of mine says many people are
“wondering and wandering through life.” They wonder why, out of all the planets in the universe, they are on this one and what their purpose is for being here; then they wander from place to plac…

For years I have said that I if was skilled in the area of automobile restoration--and I am not--I would love to find an old 1967 Camaro, tow it back to my well-equipped garage--which I don’t have--and restore it. My endeavor would not be to return the car to its original condition, but to make it even better than it was. There is something rewarding about taking what has been broken and giving it new life.
Have you experienced brokenness in relationships, career, or self-esteem? I am sure that…

Life itself presents enough challenges and obstacles without creating your own. Do you ever feel as if the ‘ceiling of life’ is about an inch above your head? It seems every time you try to become all you can be and rise higher, you bump into that invisible ceiling. The resulting feelings of failure and rejection, if allowed to go unchecked, become more than you can handle and eventually cause you to give up.
Through years of counseling experience, I have become convinced that most people who f…

Many of the people I talk to find themselves in situations that have caused them to lose hope. At that point, it seems the easy thing to do is to quit and just walk away. Perhaps they failed in business, a relationship broke down, they fell off the weight-loss wagon, or _______ you fill in the blank with your own situation. While giving up is the easy choice, it definitely is not the right choice.
When we fail or experience a temporary setback, our faith is shaken; with our confidence weakened,…

Momentum can be explained as the power to increase or develop at an ever-increasing pace; it is movement in a forward direction. You are your own Momentum-Maker or Momentum-Breaker. Are you increasing or stifling forward movement in your life?
I once heard someone liken momentum to a 50-ton train. At a complete standstill, it is impossible for the train to go over even a tiny matchbook. However, that same train, traveling at 60 miles per hour, can smash through a 4-foot brick wall without any d…

“The purpose of life is not to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all.” ~
Leo Rosten
In just one sentence, Leo Rosten summarizes how our lives should be conducted. Does your life matter outside the walls of your home, office or cubicle? The talents and resources entrusted to you, and the influence you have, are not simply for the purpose of creating a better life for yourself. You have the distinct opport…

Writing Your Own Obituary!
In memory of…..
As a former pastor, I have conducted many funeral services through the years. I am always surprised, and saddened, at how many people’s lives are usually summarized in just a few lines.
What have you achieved so far, and what more do you want to accomplish during your lifetime?
I have great news! Because you are alive, you still have the amazing opportunity to write your own obituary. Perhaps you consider the thought of writing your personal…

Expand Your Thinking and Expand Your Opportunities!
“Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results, bad thoughts and
actions can never produce good results.” James Allen
In order to experience more in life, we have to enlarge our thinking. If thinking small thoughts produces small results, then the same principle applies to thinking big thoughts. What kind of thoughts fill your mind every day? If your mindset focuses on sickness, lack, barely getting by and medio…

From the beginning of grade school to graduation, all of us were judged on the basis of the grades we had earned at the end of each quarter. A’s and B’s were above average, D’s and F’s were below average and you guessed it…C’s were average. Not top of the class, and not failing, but right down the middle of the road. And we were taught that average was okay.
Many adults continue living their lives with that same mind-set: status quo, average and mediocre. Status quo actually means the condition…

Overcoming the Victim Mindset!
Through the years, I have met with many people who have experienced various struggles in their relationships, careers, self-esteem, as well as other areas of their lives.
Something that had taken place in the past had become their justification for their present. Their conversations centered on reasons such as, “I will never find Mr. or Mrs. Right because I have been hurt before”, or, “I should have received that promotion, but the boss doesn’t like me”. O…

Do You Have Double Vision!
No I am not talking about the album by Foreigner and I’m not talking about the physically condition that can be repaired with eye drops or contacts. I am talking about the inability to focus on what it is in life you want to accomplish.
A lot of people walk through with mental double vision, bumping along and hoping to arrive somewhere, someday. The fact is that you can’t accidentally accomplish your goals. It is impossible to accidentally become great, accide…

Right Thoughts, Right Life!
King Solomon said,
“as a man (or woman) thinks in his heart, so is he.” If a person mediates and thinks on things that are negative, pessimistic, and cynical, not only will his life begin to produce these things, but also these will be the things that he will attract. Negative attracts negative and misery loves company.
There was a book written in 1902 by James Allen titled
“As A Man Thinketh”. You can still find it at any bookstore today. The b…

The Three Do’s of Setting Right Priorities
Your life today is a result of the right or wrong priorities you have set. Is your life controlling you or are you in control of your life.
One the highest profit sources for retailers are the purchases that are made while waiting in the check out line. Impulse buys. These are items that were not on the shopping list, things that were not pre-planned on being purchased and were grabbed at the last minute.
Your life is the same way. People spen…

Self-Confidence Is The Key!
Confidence comes from knowing who you are, what your purpose in life is and a certainty in your abilities, gifts and skills. I actually think that a little cockiness might be a good thing. Not the in your face I am better than you attitude, but that thing that causes you to walk, talk and act differently. Confidence is not arrogance. Arrogance gives way to attitudes of superiority and self-importance and often is an overcompensation for something else that is missing…

Change, It’s The Natural Evolution of Life!
I just read an article titled, Change or Die! Now that may sound pretty radical, I agree. But the reality is that unless we change, we won’t grow, and eventual death is a certainty. Maybe not physical death, but we will begin to experience and sense different areas of our lives becoming stagnate, declining and heading in the wrong direction.
Have you ever bumped into someone you haven’t seen in a long time? Their hair looks the same, they sound the s…

Got Stretch Marks?
When is the last time you did something for the first time? Many people never experience all that life has to offer because of their fear of taking a risk. How many relationships were never given a chance? How many business opportunities never materialized?
Develop some stretch marks! Stretch marks are a good thing. It is a sign that you are growing and developing as a person. Stretch marks are an outward sign of inward growth. It is impossible to grow, mature and increase w…

Unleashing Your Potential!
I remember a few years ago when LeBron James was preparing to play in the NBA, he was awarded a $90 million (yes, $90 million) contract with NIKE before he ever played one game. He hadn’t put on a pair of shoes or a NBA uniform, or had even been drafted yet. Why was NIKE willing to invest so much into him before he ever even played a game? The answer is easy…POTENTIAL.
LeBron was about to be highly paid mostly because of his basketball potential. I think that LeBron…
