The Million Dollar Question

Did you hear about the rancher who won $232.1 million in the lottery?

23-year-old Neal Wanless bought his winning ticket on May 27th in the town of…no joke…Winner, South Dakota. It’s one of the largest single winner jackpots in history. After taxes, Mr. Wanless will take home a lump sum of $88.5 million.

When stories like this come out, it gets people thinking. They can’t help but wonder what they’d do with all those millions. But, here’s the real million dollar question:… Continue

Life's Powerful Questions

I’m sitting with a gigantic life question of my own right now and realizing how important it is to do just that – sit. Not fix, not work through, not narrow down the possibilities. Just sit and hold the question. I like to imagine that the question doesn’t want to be answered. It’s not requiring anything of me except to be held and honored as a part of who I am at this time in my life.

We’re a very solution-focused culture. Answers, deliverables, results, ROI… Continue

Are We There Yet? Impatiently Awaiting the Market Bottom

You can only go halfway into the darkest forest…
then you are coming out the other side.

--Chinese Proverb

Are We There Yet??

Anxiously awaited as the turning point, everyone’s wondering where the bottom of the market is. Is this the worst of it? How about now? Please, someone tell us we’ve hit rock bottom! The prolonged uncertainty (sixteen months and counting) makes us so squeamish we can hardly stand it. Why is that?

It’s because we have forgotten that all of life cycle… Continue

Are you on LinkedIn and Facebook?

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more connections and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on LinkedIn and Facebook are usually about my fight or social networking tips.

Debbie,
The trouble with this environment is that you are in several "forests" at the same time. For some you may well be past the center, but in others it may continue to be dark for some time. As the capital markets begin the healing process, some areas will take much longer to heal and thus a "recovery" will be unequal. Volaltility (uncertainty) will remain elevated in the near future. There are still many economic risks that are elevated. My best advice for clients is to take the time to access their situation given the recent market turmoil. Review your progress against your long term plan, determine what actions, if any, are appropriate and begin to once again take control. Over the last few months many have felt a sense of helplessness. That does not need to be.....

Enjoy our first "Spring" weekend.
